Spud Webb

It's tough to say which player did more for short people in basketball, Muggsy Bogues or Spud Webb. The former was the shortest professional athlete in the modern era in a sport that encourages height, but the latter, Anthony "Spud" Webb, may have done more when he won the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk contest. Standing just 5-foot-7, Webb flew through the air like a hummingbird to win the title.

Before his moment in the limelight, Webb had been a solid player at N.C. State. The Texas native went on to play nine seasons in the NBA, and according to videos on YouTube, was still dunking a basketball well into his 40s.
