Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues was the hero of every short kid in the Carolinas for over a decade. The Baltimore native gained notoriety at Dunbar High School, then Wake Forest where he fearlessly mixed it up with college basketball elite in the Atlantic Coast Conference, despite standing just 5-foot-3.
Bogues wasn't blessed with height, but he was incredibly athletic and quick, something he used to great effect on the defensive end of the court. He was drafted 12th overall in 1987 by the Washington Bullets, then picked up by the Charlotte Hornets in the expansion draft. He became a staunch fan favorite in nine seasons with the Hornets, and played in the league until 2001.
